Kabuki

The country famous for it's sushi
Also gave us the kabuki
An art specific to the Japanese

Costumed in complex detail
The female parts performed by males
Singing, dancing, acting to appease.

Kaffiyeh

If while in Arabia
Someone gives you a kaffiyeh
That would be a useful acquisition

It is a scarf worn on one's head
To spare one from the sun’s hot dread
Using a cord to keep it in position.

I have sitting upon my desk
A book that is quite Kafkaesque
Its content being nightmarishly bizarre
About a bureaucratic land
That is complex to understand
A genre named so after Franz Kafka

An author from last Century
Whose writing did apparently
Reflect said qualities and did impart
Some influence no doubt upon
Philosophers who then belonged
To names like Camus, Marquez and to Sarte.

Kathleen

There was girl they called Kathleen
Whose house was spick-and-span and clean
For no dirt or mess she could endure,

But inside she was just as sweet
Her heart was neat from beat to beat
Which fit her well because her name meant pure!

In the land that is way under
The other land they call Down Under
Is a certain flightless hen-sized bird.
They have long beaks, come out at night,
And have no wings to achieve flight
But from them a high shrill at night is heard.

Their feathers are like fur and brown
And on four toes they walk the ground
In New Zealand's forests lush and green
Where they eat berries and worms,
Larvae and insects that squirm
Late at night and so are seldom seen.

The Kiwi is the name we give
To this little bird that lives
In the land that bears the Long White Cloud
Where it bears such treasured fame
The People there do share it's name
Proclaiming themselves Kiwi's bold and proud!

Kristen

Kristen was a lady that
Liked to take in homeless cats
And people too who found themselves in need,
When suffering this lady saw
None of it she could ignore
But helped them out with zeal and with speed!

No thought for herself she had
Helping others made her glad
Despite how their needs may have been priced,
Which was nice for in Latin
Her name exemplified "Christian"
That is a selfless follower of Christ!
