The Meaning of Baa

Baa

Should you ever find you are
Trapped inside a speeding car
That's being driven by an insane sheep
So as to avoid your fate
You might like to communicate
With it in it's language made of bleats.

Try saying to it, "Baa baa baa"
Which means, "Please sir stop the car!"
And if that doesn't work then I'm afraid
Neither will "Baa baa baa baa!"
Which translates roughly into, "Aaaaargh!"
For sheep like that are too hard to persuade!

The Meaning of Kabaragoya

Kabaragoya

Should you ever go and stay
In the place called The Malay
Archipelago then when you swim
In the water there make sure
You look out for the monitor
Lizard that might swim with you therein

Called the Kabaragoya
A better swimmer than we are
A carnivore more than 6 feet across
Eating rodents, fish and birds,
Crabs, frogs and snakes too I've heard
Showing them when hungry who is boss!

What is a Kiwi?

Kiwi

In the land that is way under

The other land they call Down Under

Is a certain flightless hen-sized bird.

They have long beaks, come out at night,

And have no wings to achieve flight

But from them a high shrill at night is heard.

Their feathers are like fur and brown

And on eight toes they walk the ground

In New Zealand's forests lush and green

Where they eat berries and worms,

Larvae and insects that squirm

Late at night and so are seldom seen.

The Kiwi is the name we give

To this little bird that lives

In the land that bears the Long White Cloud

Where it bears such treasured fame

The People there do share it's name

Proclaiming themselves Kiwi's bold and proud!

What is a Bactrian Camel?

Bactrian Camel

Once when in a foreign land
I found myself in desert sands
And on a dune met an unusual mammal,
And trying not to sound too rude
I asked him, "What on earth are you?"
To which he answered me, "I am a camel!"

"Are you sure?" I asked of him,
"Of course I am, I'm Bactrian!"
He answered me and rather angrily,
"I'm the type of camel that
Has more than one hump on its back
Unlike the ones with one called dromedaries!"

And then just when it dawned on me
That this camel actually
Was talking English rather fluently,
He went on quickly to explain
That Bactrian's a name that came
From Bactria which was an ancient country.

Abalone

This is the testimony
Of the noble abalone
A shell fish from the bottom of the sea.

Its mother of pearl interior
Beats its rough exterior
And makes for some exquisite jewellery.
