Aardwolf
Late one night I left my home
And took a stroll all on my own
And bumped into a most unusual sight
A creature kind of like a dog
Sniffing about like a hog
Asked of me, “Sir, are you a termite?”
“Not quite!” I said shaking my head
“I’m human and my name is Ned”
To which he said, “My name is Beowulf”
“Well,” I said, “I’m pleased to meet you
May I ask what on earth are you?”
To which he told me he was an Aardwolf
He had traveled from afar
All the way from Africa
Looking for a termite for his tea
He and his black furry stripes
Had been at it most the night
Right up to the point when he met me.
“I wish that I could help” I said
“But all I have is Jam and bread
Termites round here are quite a rarity”
“But,” I told him, “If you’d like
I know a dog whose name is Spike
Maybe you could try some of his fleas?”
